Helical Eel Ramp
Through our work designing and installing eel ramps, we have developed a new means for eels to pass upstream over barriers. Instead of a traditional straight ramp, this ramp is in a helical pattern around a vertical axis. It’s benefits include: • Uses a small amount of area for installation. This is particularly beneficial in crowded areas where ramps are typically situated. • Simplifies installation and seasonal removal, if necessary. • Due to the variation in slope along its radius, greater passage opportunity is provided for different size eels, whose climbing abilities and preferences may vary.
